we spent the second part of our vietnam trip based in saigon, where we swam, visited markets, did a cooking class and i even became the (hesitant) new owner of my very own vietnamese haircut lol. i ate the most delicious bahn xeo (so good infact, that we returned there to eat them once more – they’re vietnamese pancake-style things, served with fresh greens, herbs and fish sauce) and sampled the local Saigon brews whilst watching the scooters pass by. one of the highlights here was visiting the war remnants museum and learning more about the vietnam war. the cu chi tunnels were also awesome and an incredible insight into their wartime lives.
things i would not recommend trying: hiring a scooter and driving around ho chi minh city… i cried more than once on the back of the bike from the intense stress (i wasn’t even the one driving!!), especially after seeing a motorbike on its side in the middle of the highway… certainly wouldn’t recommend driving by scooter the 1.5 hours north to the cu chi tunnels lol
here are some photos from saigon, with a few from our cooking class right at the very end 🙂
