sleeping soundly on an overnight bus from siem reap to bangkok, we arrived in thailand refreshed and ready to explore. we were mostly looking forward to the food, and just like vietnam, it did not disappoint. stand outs for me included incredible, authentic thai green curries, freshly squeezed mango & passionfruit juices, pad thai and other curries with unknown ingredients, made by resourceful thai men and women on street corners.
we stayed a few days in bangkok before flying south to phuket, setting up base in an airbnb that overlooked patong. we again hired a scooter (this time with less hesitance on my part) and explored the island. every street and house was adorned by tangles of powerlines. near patong, we found one of the most epic snorkelling spots in crystal clear waters too. it was the perfect way to beat the heat (along with the crispy, post-dip chang beers).
before we flew out, we spent another couple of days back in bangkok, including a day trip to a nearby theme park, where one of the rides (that i may or may not have strongly encouraged him onto…) gave josh a 12-hour bout of vertigo lol
