dubai  – the city of endless deserts, towering skyscrapers and excess. we extended our layover and spent a couple of days wandering through the malls and soukhs, where shopkeepers did their best to con us into conversation by literally throwing their scarves and other goods our way. the highlight for me was an afternoon out in the desert, riding quad bikes and even a camel, before sitting down to an arabian feast accompanied by belly dancers and music. on our departing flight, a window seat also allowed us a view of the burj khalifa from above which was a nice surprise! here are some pictures from our time there…
